The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has pressured Graco to recall 1.9 million infant car seats – the largest car seat recall in American history – due to a faulty buckle. This comes just months after Graco recalled 4.3 million toddler seats with the same defect.
Although Graco assures its customers the restraining part of the safety system functions as it should, the inherent problem lies in the buckles. As food and liquid drop into the buckle mechanism, it may become so congested so it won’t unlatch properly. In fact some parents in emergency situations have had to cut their children out because the buckles would not release quickly enough.

If you own one of the above car seats, have a buckle shown in this link or are experiencing difficulty with your harness buckle, Graco will replace the defective buckle. Graco Expands Recall
