SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Robert J. Francavilla and Gayle M. Blatt — partners at Casey, Gerry, Reed & Schenk — have been named officers of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (CASD), an organization of trial lawyers whose focus is to preserve and protect the legal rights of consumers.

According to David Casey Jr., senior partner with the prominent plaintiff’s law firm, Robert J. Francavilla was named CASD’s president-elect and Gayle M. Blatt its treasurer. “Both Gayle and Robert have a breadth of experience and dedication to the profession that will serve CASD well,” Casey said, “and we are honored that they represent our firm on its board.”

Blatt, who embarked on her law career as a clerk for CGRS, now concentrates her practice on class action, pharmaceutical and personal injury litigation. Earning numerous multi-million dollar results for her clients, she is especially active in product liability cases involving children. A frequent lecturer, she has served as a workshop leader for the San Diego Inn of Court’s Co llege of Advocacy and as a judge in National Advocacy Competitions. CASD has honored her with its “Outstanding Trial Lawyer” award. In addition, she is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the San Diego County Bar Association. A resident of the University City, Blatt earned her JD from California Western School of Law.

Francavilla focuses his trial practice on all aspects of serious personal injury and wrongful death actions including product liability, automotive litigation, premises liability and highway design matters. A longtime CASD member, that organization has honored him three times with an “Outstanding Trial Lawyer” award. He is also a member of Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the San Diego County Bar Association. A former Tort Law Editor of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego’s publication Trial Bar News, he has also served as an instructor at the San Diego Inn of Court’s College of Advocacy and is an arbitrator by appointment of the San Diego Superior Court. A resident of Carmel Valley, Francavilla earned his JD from the University of San Diego.

Casey Gerry Reed & Schenk was established in 1947, and is the oldest plaintiffs’ law firm in San Diego. The firm’s 13 attorneys practice in numerous areas, including, personal injury, pharmaceutical drug, asbestos litigation, class action and products liability.
