SAN DIEGO, Calif. — David S. Casey, Jr. — managing partner of Casey Gerry Schenk Francavilla Blatt and Penfield — has been named one of the “Top 500 Leading Lawyers in America” by Lawdragon, a rapidly growing source of legal news and lawyer profiles.

A guide to the nation’s top lawyers, the Lawdragon 500 sets the standard for the best of the legal profession. This annual list includes private attorneys from a wide range of practices, in-house counsel, law professors, judges, government attorneys and public interest lawyers.

The guide is selected through a combination of submissions from firms — voting via an online ballot — and research by Lawdragon’s editorial staff. To make the list, a lawyer must have practiced for 20 years, played a leadership role in selective bar associations, been admitted to “member’s only” trade associations and demonstrated outstanding performance in cases and other matters.

A third generation attorney, Casey Jr. certainly meets these criteria. He has spent more than 30 years practicing law in San Diego. Specializing in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, he has received over 50 awards from trial bar associations and obtained successful verdicts and settlements for dozens of high profile cases. He is a past president of the American Association of Justice (AAJ), a 50,000-member strong national trial bar organization; past president of both the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and the Consumer Attorneys of California; has been inducted into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and is a fellow of the International Academy of Barristers. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including  the “Legal Professional of the Year” from the San Diego County Bar Association, USD’s Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award and is listed in “Super Lawyers” magazine and “Best Lawyers in America.”

The native La Jollan received his juris doctorate from the USD School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College.
