CASEY GERRY PARTNERS NAMED AMONG SAN DIEGO’S TOP ATTORNEYS OF 2009

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego Daily Transcript recently released its annual ranking of San Diego’s “Top Attorneys,” listing Casey Gerry partners David S. Casey Jr., Gayle M. Blatt and Thomas D. Penfield among San Diego’s top legal professionals.

The newspaper’s “Top Attorney’s of 2009” is the culmination of a lengthy voting process in which San Diego County lawyers were balloted and asked who amongst their peers was worthy of recognition. Lawyers in good standing with the California State Bar and licensed in the State of California and/or the Federal Patent bench were eligible for consideration.

According firm partner Frederick Schenk, “Blatt, Penfield and Casey were honored in the personal injury category, and were selected from amongst hundreds of contenders. All three are top attorneys in their field, and well deserving of this recognition.”

Among the trio’s many accomplishments:

Gayle M. Blatt is past president of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (CASD), an organization of trial lawyers whose focus is to preserve and protect the legal rights of consumers, and is a two-time recipient of the organization’s  “Outstanding Trial Lawyer” award. Earning numerous multi-million dollar results for her clients, she concentrates her practice on personal injury, pharmaceutical and product liability litigation.

A past president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), David Casey Jr. was recently tapped by Senator Diane Feinstein to oversee the judicial nomination process for President Obama. A third generation attorney, Casey specializes in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, earning numerous professional awards and obtaining successful verdicts and settlements for dozens of well-known cases throughout his three-decade career.

With significant experience in personal injury, products liability, class actions and civil litigation, Thomas D. Penfield is the current president of the Bar Association of North San Diego County. Prior to joining Casey Gerry, he worked as a supervising trial lawyer with the Defenders Program of San Diego, and a Professor of Law at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law, where he still teaches as an adjunct professor.
