San Diego County Bar Association elects Casey Gerry partner Thomas D. Penfield to board of directors

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Thomas D. Penfield – a partner with San Diego-based law firm Casey Gerry – was recently elected to the board of directors of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA), the county’s largest legal organization with over 10,000 attorney members.

Penfield was elected by the SDCBA members to serve a three-year term on its board, the association’s governing body.
This recent election is the latest in a slew of prestigious appointments and accolades for Penfield. He is the immediate past-chair of the American Bar Association’s Task Force on Plaintiff’s Involvement of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) and was also tapped to join The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation (ABF), an honorary organization of attorneys, judges and law professors. Most recently, he was named vice-chair of the TIPS’ Trial Techniques Committee. In addition, Penfield is featured in the 2011 edition of Best Lawyers in America – a revered annual peer-ranking of the nation’s top attorneys.

Penfield concentrates his practice on personal injury, products liability and class actions, and has been an attorney with Casey Gerry since 1988. He is also an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law.

Active in both community and professional organizations, he is immediate past president of the Bar Association of North San Diego County, a Fellow in the National College of Advocacy of the American Association for Justice, and a past recipient of the Environmental Lawyer of the Year Award from the Sierra Club’s San Diego Chapter. He is a graduate of California Western School of Law (J.D. 1974).
