If you’re a motorcycle rider, the easiest way to protect yourself whenever you hit the road is to wear a helmet. More than 80 percent of motorcycle crashes result in injury or death to the motorcyclist, and head injury is the leading cause of death among motorcycle crash fatalities. In fact, each year more than 2,200 people are kllled and 55,000 injured in motorcycle crashes.

Results of a landmark University of Southern California study of 900 motorcycle accidents – The Hurt Report – revealed that wearing a helmet was the single most crucial factor in preventing and reducing head and neck injuries among motorcycle drivers and passengers.

It’s also essential to make sure your helmet fits properly and meets legal requirements for adequate impact protection. Your helmet must fit snugly, tightly enough so that you can’t pull it off by grabbing the back and yanking forward. You should feel your skin moving with the helmet as you wiggle the shell around.

Most helmets come with padding to help shape the helmet – you should feel this padding against the top and front of your head. Helmet Buying Guide
