CaseyGerry’s Meagan L. Verschueren Named President of Tom Homann LGBT Law Association

SAN DIEGO (April 16, 2019) CaseyGerry attorney Meagan L. Verschueren will be inducted as the incoming co-president of The Tom Homann LGBT Law Association (THLA) at the organization’s 25th Annual Awards and Installation Dinner, Thursday, April 25, held at San Diego’s U.S. Grant Hotel. She will serve as president from 2019 to 2021.

CG_Meagan_VerschuerenVerschueren will work closely with outgoing co-president George Seymour to help oversee the association, which is dedicated to the advancement of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues throughout California and beyond.

Casey, Jr. managing partner of CaseyGerry, San Diego’s oldest plaintiffs’ law firm. “We’re also very proud to be title sponsor of this important dinner and to help welcome California Supreme Court Justice Leondra R. Kruger as the keynote speaker.”

According to Verschueren, as THLA president she plans to help foster important connections for the organization as well as to grow its membership. “I plan to work with our diverse community – increasing our impact by partnering with other bar organizations working toward the same goals,” she said. “I am so honored to be leading such an important, forward-thinking organization for the next two years.”

Over the last few years, Verschueren has been heavily involved in the Tom Homann LGBT Law Association as a board member and chair of the membership committee, as well as mentoring LGBT law students. Additionally, she works closely with the Lawyers Club’s LGBT committee and is an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association, California Women Lawyers, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the American Association for Justice and the National LGBT Bar Association. In her spare time, she volunteers as a mock judge for the San Diego County High School Annual Mock Trial Competition and for events promoting Voices for Children and STAR/PAL.

Originally from North Muskegon, Michigan, Verschueren graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida. She earned a J.D. from California Western School of Law, cum laude.
