Pool of those Compromised in U.S. Bank Data Breach Could Now Include You

December 11, 2020 Data Breaches

On December 9, 2020, U.S. Bank notified the public of the most recent development in the 2020 U.S. Bank Data Breach debacle. The pool of individuals impacted by the July 2020 breach has expanded to include not only account holders, and commercial loan applicants, but anyone whose information may have been shared during an application process, or in a U.S. Bank acquisition dating as far back as 2010.

On October 2, 2020, CaseyGerry filed a lawsuit against U.S. Bank on behalf of those affected by the July 2020 breach. The incident occurred when a server was stolen from a U.S. Bank corporate office located in Ontario, California. The bank did not report the theft until September 2020. The server was said to contain personal and financial information of account holders and more.

In addition to their delay in reporting the incident, the number of those affected continues to grow.
