Broward Health Data Breach Impacts Over One million Individuals

The law firm of CaseyGerry is investigating a cyber security incident that has affected 1.3 million individuals.

Florida-based healthcare provider, Broward Health, has reported a notice of breach that has compromised patient and staff personal and health-related data.

According to the report filed, Broward Health became aware of unauthorized access to the company’s network systems on October 19, 2021. Their investigations uncovered that a hacker gained access to their system, which contained personal and health-related information, on October 15, 2021. The compromised files included highly sensitive patient and staff information such as:

• Name
• Address
• Date of Birth
• Social Security Number
• Driver’s License Number
• Health Insurance Information
• Medical information such as condition, diagnosis and treatment, medical history, and medical record number
• Bank information and/or other financial information

According to an article by ZDNet, Broward Health warned affected individuals that they are now at risk of medical identity theft due to the data breach.
