Deval (“Dev”) Zaveri is Senior Counsel at CaseyGerry. She works primarily with the firm’s Complex Litigation team, bringing years of experience and expertise in a wide variety of legal matters including Class Action litigation.

Dev began her law practice as a Navy JAG where she was ranked as top criminal defense counsel, then moved into private practice with Morrison & Foerster, and Cooley LLP.  There she represented clients in federal and state courts, in SEC and NASD inquiries, and before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  Notably, while at Morrison & Foerster, Dev led a fifty-plus lawyer document review team, spanning three continents, in the El Paso Natural Gas Antitrust Litigation.  She later worked for Bernstein Litowitz Berger and Grossmann, where she prosecuted nationwide securities and employment discrimination cases, and led the firm’s investigation of stock option backdating cases.

In 2015, Dev co-founded Zaveri Tabb, APC, a full-service boutique law firm that provided litigation and corporate counseling services.  In her counsel role, Dev assisted several San Diego start-ups with matters ranging from privacy issues to employment disputes.  In her litigation role, Dev prosecuted class actions involving TCPA, data breach, and false advertising violations.  She represents a certified class in a TCPA case against Volkswagen for its billion-dollar TCPA violations, and also represents three name plaintiffs in the In Re: Yahoo! Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, including the two named Israeli plaintiffs.  Dev also represented small and medium-sized businesses and individuals as both plaintiff’s and defense counsel in various commercial disputes.

Dev has worked on pro bono matters throughout her career, including representing John Walker Lindh (the “American Taliban”), and co-drafting the complaints in human rights cases against the Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Somalia, one of which was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Dev is highly involved in both professional and community-based organizations. She co-founded the South Asian Bar Association of San Diego, and served for several years on the San Diego Museum of Art‘s Committee for the Arts of the Indian Subcontinent. Dev is the immediate past President of the San Diego chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), serves on the board of the Asian Pacific Islander Public Affairs Association, and volunteers with the Girl Scouts.

Dev is also active in politics and recently served on the Kamala Harris for President, National Finance Committee and Lawyers for Biden Regional Strategy Team.  Before law school, Dev worked for U.S. Senator Sam Nunn (D-GA).

Dev has been recognized by several San Diego legal organizations for her volunteer work, including the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program.  And for the past two years she has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in San Diego.
