San Diego Attorney David S. Casey Jr. Awarded Two Top Honors

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (September 2018) – David S. Casey Jr. managing partner of CaseyGerry, San Diego’s oldest plaintiffs law firm, has been recognized as one of the “100 Leading Lawyers in California” and among California’s “Top Plaintiff’s Lawyers” for 2018 by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal.

Highlighting the state’s most influential legal practitioners, the Top 100 list is compiled each year by Daily Journal staffers, and was published in a special supplement, which appeared September 19. Each year, the Daily Journal  – California’s preeminent legal publication – also lauds top plaintiffs lawyers for making a difference far beyond the lives of their clients by using their legal skills to make real and lasting change. This is Casey’s third consecutive year to make each list.

With a career spanning more than 40 years, Casey, Jr.’s legal skills and landmark cases have impacted both consumers and the legal community. Early this year he was honored with a CLAY (California Lawyer of the Year) award for his work on the national VW Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC) overseeing litigation targeting Volkswagen over its diesel emissions scandal. In 2017 he was appointed as liaison counsel for the Wells Fargo Multi-District Litigation (MDL) – national class action lawsuits consolidated following reports the banking giant forced its car loan customers to buy unnecessary auto policies. He serves on the national PSC overseeing the Eco Diesel Litigation against Fiat Chrysler and on the PSC overseeing NFL head injury litigation. Additionally, he has helped raise awareness about concussion safety and the growing controversy related to head injuries and potential brain damage in his representation of the family of deceased NFL player Junior Seau.

A third-generation attorney, Casey, Jr. is past president of the American Association of Trial Lawyers (now known as the American Association for Justice) and has been lauded with numerous professional accolades throughout his career, including a perpetual award in his honor, the “David S. Casey, Jr. Consumer Advocate Award” from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. A fellow of the International Academy of Barristers, he is the recipient of more than 80 awards and was inducted into the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego’s “Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame.”

He received his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law.
