Hagerty Insurance Data Breach

CaseyGerry is investigating a series of insurance quote data breaches including one reported by the Hagerty Insurance Agency, LLC.

In February 2021, the company discovered an increase of quote requests on their insurance quoting platform. Further investigation revealed that automated bots had been embedded into the source code to access individuals’ personal data, especially Driver’s license numbers.

According to the company’s breach notification submitted to the California Attorney General’s Office, the unauthorized party was able to gain access to individuals’ sensitive information such as Driver’s license number and Date of birth by submitting basic information such as individuals’ names.
