Forefront Dermatology Data Breach

The law office of CaseyGerry is investigating a data breach reported by Forefront Dermatology, S.C. (also operating as Forefront Management, LLC), which may have affected millions of employees and patients across the country.

Forefront Dermatology, a group of almost 200 dermatologists across the country, reported the incident on June 24, 2021.

The data security incident notice on the company’s website states that the cyber security incident was discovered on June 4, 2021. Their investigation revealed that their IT system was hacked by an unauthorized third-party sometime between May 28, 2021, and June 4, 2021.

According to an article on www.hipaanswers.com, Forefront Dermatology reported that the data of 2.4 million individuals may have been impacted by the breach including past and current patients, and employees whose names and social security information may have also been accessed.

The breach notice sent to those who were possibly affected listed identifying and health-related information which was compromised in the attack, including:

• Name
• Address
• Date of birth
• Patient account number
• Health insurance plan
• Member ID number
• Medical record number
• Dates of service
• Provider names and/or medical and clinical treatment information.
