Popular imaging company, Canon U.S. A. has reported a data breach that has put employee information at risk.

The company detected ransomware on August 4, 2020 and discovered that an unauthorized third-party gained and maintained access to their system from July 20, 2020 to August 6, 2020. The compromised server contained a large amount of personal and financial employee information dating back to 2005. It is estimated that at least 41,968 individuals have been affected by the breach.

The information at risk includes, social security numbers, government issued identification including driver’s license numbers, and date of birth. Financial information such as account numbers for direct deposit as well as electronic signature was also exposed.
